| Outstanding Teacher Award |
This selection has been made after receiving feedback from teaching colleagues, students, and parents and careful consideration from the selection committee.
We deeply value the impact that outstanding teaching has on student success, and Kate truly embodies what it means to be an exceptional educator. Her communication skills are exemplary, she leads with empathy, inspires those she teaches, works collaboratively with her peers, and brings a strong sense of cultural awareness to her practice.
Kate started at the College in 2016 as a teacher of Geography and quickly showed her passion for curriculum which led her to becoming the Middle School’s curriculum leader as our MYP co-ordinator.
Kate’s other passion is sustainability, and she has been the lead teacher for our sustainability committee assisting the students to implement a number of initiatives at the College and ensuring that sustainability themes are interwoven into our curriculum. This year, she led our international project with Chinese Schools where students worked collaboratively on the sustainable development goals.
The following is some of the feedback received from our community in nominating Kate.
She’s the best. Kind and compassionate and inspires the students to believe in themselves.
Kate is an exceptional teacher whose passion for education, deep commitment to her students, and innovative teaching methods make her truly stand out. She creates a classroom environment where every student feels seen, supported, and inspired to learn. Kate goes above and beyond to ensure that her lessons are engaging, inclusive, and tailored to meet the diverse needs of her students.
She has great communication in the class, as well as listening. I’ve never been afraid to ask a question in her class, and if anyone looks confused she always makes sure we understand without leaving people behind.
She demonstrates cultural awareness by celebrating different students from different cultures and incorporating different languages and cultural activities within aspects of her teaching. The best teacher I have ever had.
